Vintage Newspapers - A Narrow Squeak for Some Paper Treasures

Having featured a number of treasures gifted to me by my nan recently, this time it's my gran - my dad's mum - who has really come up trumps. Every time one of us sees Gran she hands over several carrier bags full of newspapers for my guinea pig. So when she handed over another bag to my parents when they saw her last week, none of us expected what we found inside...

Apparently she said that if they were of no interest to me I could still use them for the guinea pig. Sorry Alfie, but there's no way you'll be parking your furry behind on these!

One person's ephemera is another's treasure...

  1. Ooh, how fabulous! I love the advertisements in old newspapers, and how awful would it have been, if they had been thrown out with the rubbish!

    Have a happy Monday ...

    Love Claire xx

    1. Yes I'm looking forward to sitting down and looking at them properly because the adverts fascinate me too! x

  2. How lovely to find these! Perhaps not the best idea for Alfie to wallow in them (that's if guinea pigs do wallow?!) What do you think you'll do with them now? Frame parts of them or keep them in a collection? xx

    1. Alfie likes to sit and mutter - he reminds me of Churchill sometimes! I'm not sure, I'll certainly be storing them more carefully for a start, but it wouldn't surprise me if Gran has lots more of this sort of thing stashed away!

    1. Yep, after decades of collecting she was strangely relaxed about what happened to them! They'll have a good home here. x
