Check out my new shopping buddies!
My mum absolutely loves owls, so I made one for her for Mother's Day. I haven't been able to post these earlier, though, because I made the other for a friend's birthday last week, and I couldn't risk her seeing them!
I've already been informed by my mum that having one of these wise fellas in the coin slot of your supermarket trolley ensures that you spot some fantastic bargains. I don't need to be told twice - I'm making one for myself to double up as a cheery bag charm.
By the way, my new golden rule when making anything with felt (not needlefelting) is to soak the pieces in spray starch and leave to dry before stitching them together. It stops the felt going fluffy when cut and helps keep the finished product cleaner for longer. I wrote a post about the many uses of this wonder product here.
A busy day today so this bird's gotta fly...
Twit-twoo,
Ooh, I love them! So cute, and practical! Your stitching is super-neat too, you clearly have more patience than me.
ReplyDeleteThanks - I find embroidery thread pretty easy to use neatly because it's chunky. My nan always used to tell me off for my not-so-neat hand sewing so with normal thread it's something I'm still working on!
DeleteThese sweet, vibrantly hued owls are so wonderfully fun. There's a large owl that's taken up residency in a street downtown here that's been drawing crowds for the past few weeks. I'm not sure what kind it is (it's perched rather high up a tree and I've only glanced it from a moving car), but I'm sure - wonderful as it is - it isn't quite as cute (no where as colourful) as these sweet birdies are.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your lovely comment on my "You are beautiful" post today, I really appreciate it, Anna.
Wishing you a marvelous Thursday,
Jessica
You are so welcome, Jessica. I loved your post so much that I've popped a link to it on here.
DeleteI do love owls but there's one (a tawny, I think) living in a tree outside my bedroom window and being very noisy lately! It's true that we love our wildlife here in Britain, but I think this one is losing fans fast when it starts a sing-song at 3am!
They are soooo cute!!!! How did you make them ? I did not like it, I loved it!!
