Wearing Stories on Your Sleeve: Part 2 - Agatha Christie

Last Thursday saw the first in my series of five Wearing Stories on Your Sleeve style boards. I just love books and stories and the escapism they provide, and this is something I like to incorporate in small ways into my style. The first style board kicked off with Mary Poppins, which you can look at here.

Week 2: Agatha Christie

This week was a little difficult to assemble, not because of a shortage of Aggie Christie-style looks out there, but because her books transcend so many different eras, I could have created hundreds upon hundreds of style boards from the 1920s through to the 1950s! All I know is that every time I settle down to watch a Marple or Poirot on television I find myself dribbling over the characters' outfits.

So I went on my intuition. Every garment I came across that screamed Christie! made it onto the screen you see below.

I hope you like!

I know I could never own every Agatha Christie novel - she wrote over ninety - and my bookshelves are groaning as it is. But I still do a little excited bounce every time I find a tattered edition in a second hand bookshop.

Christie came to resent Poirot in the end, even referring to him as a 'bombastic little creep'. Only a great writer could come up with that sentence! Marple or Poirot, I love them both, and still find it a real treat to curl up with a book or watch the latest adaptation on telly. If you love Poirot as much as I do, ITV3 are having a Poirot weekend this coming weekend. I'll be ogling outfits and trying to guess 'whodunnit' even if I've seen the same episode several times before!

Next week: The Great Gatsby - with a board for the chaps, too!

So I'll leave you with the ultimate question: Do you have a preference - Poirot or Marple?
